Arsan Mendonca
Arsan Leite Mendonca Jr., 83, of Hilo, died Oct. 13, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Dec. 27, 1934, in Hilo, he was a retired equipment installation planner for the former GTE Hawaiian Tel and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Hilo, and active with the Orchid Isle Umpires Association, serving as a Little League Assistant District Commissioner; and volunteered for several sports activities and athletic organizations and was a varsity basketball coach for St. Joseph School and Waiakea High School.
Visitation will be held 5 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; Mass at 10 a.m. Aloha attire and no flowers.
He is survived by, wife, Lorraine Mendonca of Hilo; son, Patrick Mendonca of Hilo; daughter, Raenelle (Keith) Akiyama of Hilo; brother, David Mendonsa of Hilo; sisters, Priscilla Chung of Honolulu, Oahu, Lorraine (Joseph) Veincent of Hilo and JoAnn (Elia) Loa of Hilo; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Veronica Yadao
Veronica Rivera Yadao, 85, of Paauilo, died Oct. 20. 2018, at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. She was born in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines and was a retired waitress with the Hilton Waikoloa Resort and a member of the St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Paauilo.
Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Nov. 10 at the St. Columba’s Episcopal Church where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the St. Columba’s Episcopal Church Cemetery. Casual attire.
She is survived by daughter, Letty Jane (Michael) Galloway of Keaau; sons, John (Sylvia) Yadao, Jr. of Paauilo and Thomas (Wendy) Yadao of Waipahu; sisters, Marina Melchor of Maui, Elsie Marcelia Younce of Oregon and Nena (Kausiga) Tukana of Maui; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Christine Peters
Christine Mae Peters, 60, of Pahoa, died Oct. 15, 2018, in Hilo. She was a laboratory technician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Maui Memorial Hospital.
Private services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hui No’eau Visual Art Center, the Pacific Primate Sanctuary, or Art Maui.
She is survived by mother, Bertha Peters; fiancé, Christopher Ellis; brother, Ronald Peters; sisters, Lynn Peters, Laureen Martin, and Charlene Smith; niece and nephews.
